Workshop Resources
These supplemental resources complement our workshops and are available online for convenient access. They allow participants to revisit and reinforce the knowledge gained during the workshops at their own pace. By providing ongoing support, these resources empower individuals to apply what they’ve learned in real-life situations.
Each workshop’s associated materials are listed below.
EmpowerYouth: Boundaries Workshop
Workshop Creation Toolkit
We created this toolkit out of a deep recognition that many youth—particularly those from marginalized communities—are not given the tools, language, or safe spaces to explore topics like boundaries, consent, and sexual and reproductive health. Too often, these conversations are avoided, oversimplified, or delivered in ways that feel disconnected from young people’s lived realities. We wanted to change that. This toolkit was developed to bridge those gaps by offering a youth-centered, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed resource that empowers facilitators to create workshops that are both educational and affirming. Our goal was to make conversations about safety, self-advocacy, and respect more accessible—especially for youth who are navigating layered identities, stigma, or systemic barriers. By providing practical guidance, interactive tools, and inclusive content, we hope this toolkit helps build communities where every young person feels heard, respected, and equipped to set and honour their own boundaries.
Parent Information Videos
Vertical Display.
Horizontal Display.
The Parent Information Video ensures transparency and fosters trust by giving parents and guardians a clear understanding of the workshop's objectives and content. It equips them with the knowledge needed to support their children’s learning and reinforces the workshop's messages at home. This collaboration between the workshop facilitators and families creates a safe, consistent environment for youth to navigate sensitive topics like body safety and consent.
Workshop Presentation
The presentation slides are designed in two distinct versions to cater to the developmental needs of different age groups. For younger participants (top) in elementary school, the slides focus on foundational concepts to ensure that the material is age-appropriate and approachable for their level of understanding. For older participants in middle and high school, the slides (bottom) take a more direct approach by addressing what sexual assault is, discussing consent in greater depth, and equipping participants with tools to navigate and respond to such situations. This tailored approach ensures that each age group receives information that is both accessible and relevant to their stage of development.
Take-Home Booklet
The take-home workshop booklet was designed for younger participants and is crucial for reinforcing the lessons learned during the workshop and interactive activities. It provides a tangible resource that kids can refer to whenever needed, helping them remember key concepts like boundaries, consent, and identifying trusted adults. The booklet also encourages continued conversations at home with parents or guardians, fostering a collaborative approach to safety and well-being. Older participants are provided with colouring books and pamphlets from the Office for Sexual and Gender Based Violence at the University of Calgary.
Please Note: All contributing volunteers have completed the Trauma-Informed Care Certification through Alberta Health Services, ensuring a compassionate and supportive approach in all our materials and interactions.
Videos
We aim to create a series of informative video resources tailored for South Asian immigrant women, delivered in various South Asian languages such as Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Tamil, Punjabi, and others. These videos will cover essential topics related to reproductive health conditions that are prevalent and relevant to our community. Examples include discussions on menstrual health, cervical and breast cancer awareness, contraception options, prenatal care, menopause, and navigating sexual health conversations. Our goal is to ensure that women from diverse linguistic backgrounds can access accurate information in a culturally sensitive manner, empowering them to make informed decisions about their health.
