Khairiyat Women's Health Equity Network
Our mission here at Khairiyat is to de-stigmatize women’s health in marginalized communities, particularly among South Asian and immigrant populations. A vital part of this mission is to connect women to accessible, culturally sensitive resources, build supportive spaces for open dialogue, and empower community ambassadors to lead sustainable, meaningful change.
What is Women’s Health?
Women’s health is about more than treating illness—it’s about nurturing the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of women and girls at every stage of life.
It includes key areas like sexual and reproductive health—from periods and birth control to pregnancy, fertility, and menopause—but also recognizes the role of mental health, relationships, social expectations, and access to care in shaping overall wellness.
Women’s health is also deeply intergenerational. The challenges and care experienced by girls and women today ripple across families and communities for generations. That’s why it’s essential to foster open, inclusive conversations and educate all young people, not just girls, about these issues. When everyone understands and supports women’s health, we lay the foundation for healthier, more informed communities.
At the heart of Khairiyat’s mission, women’s health means equipping women and girls with the knowledge, tools, and safe spaces they need to make empowered decisions about their bodies and lives—while also building community ambassadors who can lead lasting change and strengthen support networks across Canada.
